March Critique Recap

We failed to adequately communicate our goals and expectations to Kim Chapiin for the
critique. Consequently, the results were not as we expected.

In order to achieve results that would provide a more consistent basis for our Year-End high
scores calculations, we did the following.

  1. We asked another judge, Kim SignoretPaar, to look at the images afresh.
  2. The scores and notes from Kim SignoretPaar are linked below.
  3. The highest score from the 2 judges will be recorded as the official results from this critique.
  4. All images from this critique will be eligible for re-entry in a future critique.

Critique Scores by Category

Images in the galleries are identified by the category in which they were submitted.
(Altered Reality = “A”, Monochrome = “M”, Open Color = “O”, Smart Phone = “P”, Special Subject = “S”)

Entries and scores are available in the following PDF files, grouped by Category.

  • Altered Reality
  • Monochrome
  • Open Color
  • Smart Phone
  • Special Subject: Environmental Portraits
Environmental Portrait photography tells a person’s story via their connection to a certain place, and often conveys the photographer’s point of view of their subject, or a particular message the photographer wants the viewer to perceive. Environmental Portrait photos can be obtained by doing either a candid or a staged photoshoot. Portraits of this type often generate an emotion in the viewer, give insight into who these people are, what they do, and illuminate the subject’s character and their personality
