Good Neighbor Program & Pet Portraits

Throughout September of 2024, the Camera Club participated in the “Good Neighbor” program, sponsored by the The Foundation of Laguna Woods Village.

The Club provided free photographic portraits and prints to Laguna Woods Village residents, especially portraits with their pets!!

Over 83 residents and 53 pets were photographed, and over 325 free prints were provided.

Sessions were held at:

  • ROVING ‘CAT’ PHOTOGRAPHERS
  • TOWERS SESSIONS

THE GLOBE: JUNE 29, 2023

Every month the Camera Club has a program on Village TV, channels 6 or 406, which airs at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesdays and at 10:30 a.m. on Saturdays. The July program consists of all the images that Club members have submitted for the first three Critiques of 2023. Critiques are events where a professional judge discusses and scores the submissions.

Article: PhotoLab now open 5 days a week! (PDF)

The PhotoLab is now open five days a week, Monday-Friday,l from 10AM-2PM. The Lab provides Mac & PC computers, tools for scanning slides, photo, and prints, several versions of professional software for editing and creating digital images, three photo-quality printers, mat cutting tools, and more. The printers can output from small to very large prints. The PhotoLab may open for more hours if more members volunteer.

Village TV: Seven short videos for June

Every Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. and every Saturday at 10:30 a.m. the Camera Club has a program on Village TV, Channels 6 and 406. For June there is a delightful selection of seven short videos which were submitted in a past slideshow competition.

The videos are about tennis in the desert, a trip to the market, amazing flower displays, the flapper styles of Valenteen, a visit to the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, wearable art from New Zealand, and weavers of Peru. The photography is superb, the production quality is noteworthy, and the soundtracks enhance the experience.

Creative expert Kim Paar to teach iPhone photography

Kim uses her camera to create images that provoke aesthetic emotions. She won her first competition when she was thirteen. Ever since she has immersed herself in photography and in the summer of 2014, she won Best of Show at the International Exhibition of Photography at the San Diego County Fair. In addition to competing and showing her photography in various venues, Kim teaches iPhoneography at the UC San Diego Retirement Center. She is currently president of Poly Photo Club at Balboa Park, San Diego.

January 5, 2023
Year End Awards Dinner

Members celebrated at the Year End Awards with cocktails and dinner in the Main Lounge of Clubhouse One.

1st, 2nd, 3rd, & 4th place winners were awarded in each category, plus Best of Show and Special Judge’s Awards.

The Lydia Savedoff Award for 2022 was presented to Rodney Cooper, and the award for 2023 was presented to Joel Goldstein. Congratulations!

In order to provide Laguna Woods Village residents the best possible service with the resources available, the Photo Lab is now open on a regular schedule.

Hours: Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Closed Mondays.
